Look up Internet monitoring software in google. Download some trial ones that let you do it for month for free. That should be enough time for you to discover everything you need to know.
There are many types but two good ones are:
1. Keyloggers. that just record every keystroke made. These do not take up much memory and he will never be able to see it in operation because of it's low system resource requirement.
2. Screen captures. These take jpg images (or other file formats) of his computer screen at regular intervals during his PC usage. This is effective if you want to know what he is looking at... BUT uses a lot more system resources.
With a few simple pieces of software you can record every event that happens on the PC of your choice.

Look even on the internet nothing is free. What you are suggesting is really something that may or may not have legal obligations. Go talk to a private investigator, there are some who will set up a payment plan with you. Once you have paid the full amount then they will start the process of investigating him. This may be your best way to get results one way or another.
