This series is a real winner but it is coming to an end. What are your theories as to Sam Tyler's orgins? Is he a time traveller? Do you care? Am I a freak for asking such a question?

i dont think it will be the coma theory, thats a bit too obvious
maybe he has been sent from the future with all the high tech stuff they have to put certain things right in the past.
cant wait to find out and i hope it lives up to the expectations of the fans
do you know if the first series is out on dvd ? i missed some of it and would love to see it all again, missed the re-runs on bbc3 over the last few weeks aswell

Here's the hard part: Pretend she never existed, like it was all a dream, don't call her, that will make you the smaller person, be the bigger person since you deserve better, what she did to you on Valentines Day was immature, especially after dating for four years. This person wasted allot of your time and through it out the window. Go out tonight, even it it is only yourself, don't drink and call or feel sorry for yourself, this will only cause you embarrassment! I know your hurting..This will eventually will go away in time. Today is not a good day for you and your emotions are spinning all over the place.
Please, whatever you do, don't answer her calls and don't call her. If she keeps calling, which she pro bally won't, don't return her call for 5 days. Make her sweat and DO Not get back together right away if you discuss this in 5 days. Tell her since she Broke up with you, you have done allot of thinking, and had the taste of "being single again" and you would like more time being "friends" for now, so you are sure you are making the right decision. Remember "She decided she didn't want to be with you" so the door is open for you to get out and see what you have been missing for four years. You honestly need to do this for yourself.
She doesn't know, but what she did was give you the best valentines day present you will ever get! A new start and a new beginning, use it to your advantage. You will look back on this and Thank God this happened now instead of 4 more wasted years of YOUR life. Today does suck, stay Strong and I promise you your life is going to be so much more exciting and you are going to be happy. If you continue to call and call her, she will think of you as needy and won't want you. She is going to rethink what she did to you today and will be hurt, if you act like you could care less. Girls always want the ones they can't have. That is who you are now to her. Let her suffer,realizing what a mistake she made. This will drive her crazy. Right now she is on cloud 9 thinking you will take her back, OH, is she stupid!
Your life isn't ruined, hers is..She lost someone special, and gave you a gift to let to live life and find someone you deserve. You are not getting back at her, your teaching her what an idiot she is and what she lost and what you gained without her. SO when You eventually talk to her, tell her thank you for what she did...
She will be hurt and you will be happy!

Well Marty i reckon Sam is a time traveller.He's been sent back from the future to use his hi-tech know-how & solve crimes.Crimes that somehow would change history or affect the future.I think he dies trying to get back to his own time-zone - when his time comes to do so.
There's a spinoff coming after this series.It's called Ashes to ashes & it's set in the early '80s.It's supposed to have Hunt & Annie as CID detectives.But no Sam.John Simm says he won't be doing any more.

He obviously wakes from his coma and all this stuff going on will give him the answers he needs to solve the disappearance of his girlfriend. Did you know that although this is the final series, they are doing one set in the 1980s without Sam but with Gene Hunt as the main character? this will be called "Ashes to Ashes" so look out for that next year.

Agree it is a good series which combines elements of humour and nostalgia - think the Sweeney - in one programme. I think he will wake up and realise the much put upon lady PC who has finally joined the team is now one of the top bosses and she is grooming him for the top job as she realises who he is and how much he helped her break down barriers back then. By going back in time he will also have stopped a number of crimes and made the present time a better place but how we get there will be the interesting bit.

I'll be so sad when it ends, but I can't wait to see what happens! I suppose he could just come out of his coma, or he could also find the world's changed for the better because of him (like in Back to the Future) - then there's his evil dad. Who's going to try and kill him - but if Sam kills him instead, does that mean he'll cease to exist? The mind boggles!

nicely each and every thing ability that he's in a coma in 2006/7 and has lengthy gone decrease back in time. i imagine that he will awaken and a number of his 1970's acquaintances will be round his mattress in the well being facility. I think it's something attached with Jean.
Most of what he's done has had some kind of impact on Hunt, so I reckon he's saving him in some way.
It was interesting to see him suffer in the 70's when he was being tortured in 06. Does that mean then, that if he dies in the 70's he'll die in 06, or if he dies in 06, he will automatically die in the 70's. By default he has to go back or he's had it then.
