Where / how does the concept of Pants & its link to male gender in western civilization comes from ?

I always wonders why or how does pants are link to Man's Fashion in Western culture and skirt is to women. Is it because of the hard work that the men are traditionally link to? Yet the scottish men wear kilt. Is it to differenciate between man & women ? but in arab world both man & woman wear long blouse, while in asia traditionally both men & women wear sarong.

It's because men do not like to ride a horse side saddle

It's for support. Women don't need support down there. I don't know why other countries do what they do, but they aren't as productive as we are.
