Had the same problem with my Compaq Presario V3029 AU, where sound card drivers were not installed. I called up the Compaq helpdesk, and they gave me the link and the names of the files to download and install. In fact, they were to be installed in a particular sequence, else they would not work properly. It has been working perfectly since.
Suggest do the same thing. Call up the HCL service desk and they'll guide you.
