Move the cat. He'll fall instantly asleep wherever you put him. The activity (or lack thereof) is the cat's goal, not the location. The fact that it has you perching on the edge of your seat is just a little bonus for him.

It depends how often he commandeers the chair. My cat drives me insane with this... if I get up for 3 seconds, he's straight up onto the computer chair, and is miraculously 'asleep' by the time I return. I solve the problem by stealing his cat bed.
Make a rota so you have equal time on the chair!

I bet the cat looks all sweet and comfortable and you do not want to disturn him, but it's your computer and it's your chair, hunny. So, you might have to be the Big Bad Hippo and wake the cat up and tell him to please move so you can sit down. Perching is not comfortable(especially for a Hippo).lol lol
Cheers and *hugs*

If he has already hacked out a hairball on the chair, let him stay on it.

Let him stay. He doesn't take up much room.

It would be nice, but if you need to sit, pick him up gently, and put him on your lap when you sit down.
Happy Valentine's Day!
