Getting 1L from 3L and 5L is easy but wondering about 4L and 6L combo??

You can only get the GCD of 2 numbers - any combination 4a + 6b is always divisible by 2. Whatever you do you will get an even number of liters.

This is a general rule. If you have 35 and 72 liter containers you can do it (don't ask me how), but if both are even then your result will always be even (unless you can draw a line at the 1/4 mark of the 4 liter container).

It's not possible, you can do it with 4L and 7L though.
