I see new laws that are trying to control every aspect of our lives. Are we going to stand for this or are we gonna sit down and let this government become the Taliban. We complain about other countries and governments. But here in the US you can't even decorate your house or pimp your car without permision from the government. Try building a fence and you need pertmits. Try pimping your car and you'll get a ticket. Granted these are minor things. But this Patriot Act, and all these copyright laws and other BS comming out is ridiculous.

My point about the fence and the car was not an example of laws, just examples of how we say its a "FREE COUNTRY" yet we are limited to what we can do from the top to the bottom. Everything is limited and controlled. What is the meaning of free?? I know we can't go around killing ppl and committing crimes. But we can't be limited to what we want to do with our lives unless we affect other negatively.

It's already too late, but most people don't even see what's going on in this country. If a corporation decides they want your house to build a on, they can take it now with Emmit domain. We have to follow all the laws, but illegals can get away with murder. We are taxed without representation and billions are uncounted for. People who signed up for national guards to protect America are being sent to Iraq for third deployments. Homeland security costs billions, but they have done nothing to keep illegals from entering the country. Our highways are for sale to foreign countries as is anything else this country can sell. It's a lot more serious then if you want to pimp your car.

First, you mistake law for adherance to building codes and vehicle safety standards. These are published standards that were enacted to protect citizens against unsafe conduct or actions. Pimping your ride is your choice but windows tinted too dark are a hazard to law enforcement officers at night. Codes were enacted after numerous drive by shootings occurred where pimp rides with zero vis windows provided convenient protection for the thugs. Note it is a "pimp" ride, pimp being slang for someone who manages prostitutes.
Copyright laws protect the intellectual property of those who created the property. Granted they are used to protect income streams, but if you create something with the intent of profit you surely don't want the competition harvesting it and taking food away from you.
When I think of our rights being eroded I look at our loss of free speech and the ongoing battle against the right to keep and bear arms. Hate speech is ugly; but the founding fathers railed against the Crown as the Crown made it illegal to harbor "ill thoughts or speech." We are now at a point with civil libertied being denied those who speak their mind. This is a very slippery slope.
The right to keep and bear arms is a fundamental right based upon the need of individual protection. Every nation that has banned personal weapons has seen an increased in armed criminal action. This ain't rocket science. Criminals perform illegal acts so they have no fear of violating the law by possessing a weapon. Criminals defer from actions against a well armed citizenry.

Umm that is your community (aka your neighbor's) not the government. Your neighbors have said you can't do so and so to your house because they want to keep their house prices up [it's called a home owners association].
When you bought your house you had a chance to tell them to stick it [and the house] where the sun doesn't shine and walk away. If you are still in it that means YOU agreed they could tell you how to decorate your house and in some cases any vehicles visible from the street.

Well, you can blame the Kennedy/Pelosi bunch for that! They are the ones who push "politically correct" crap into laws, they are the ones who restrict free speech into "zones" and who try to silence any criticism of their ideas- like making "global warming doubters" shut up.
