The HD is used to store save games, update firmware and also so you can download patches/upgrades to games as well as demos and full games. The drives are replaceable.

if you have an hdmi cable and decent tv the graphics are used in the game even the main menu looks sharp. blu ray when watching in hd is tha SHYT..... read up on it
