Demons come in many flavors, like humans do. You get the good, bad and the neutral. Demons seem to be known for doing bad things, but it's not always them...Sometimes it's just an evil spirit, but not a demon. (Confusing, yes?) Demons in ancient times were known to be either good demons, or Cacodemons, who weren't so nice.

Some actually use terror and fear as a source of power. Some have been called forth by someone to do these thigns either to a specific person, group of persons or to a place. For the most part, it is simply that their nature is to behave in such a manner and they can no nothing else but be true to their own natures.

I agree almost totally with Mahals answer. However, the part about them just being angry with God I believe is not quite accurate. Lets say you work for your g/f...and one day she says that she is no longer your g/f, and that this new hire guy is now not only her new b/f, but your boss as well. You'd hate the new guy too. Fallen Angels hate mankind because God has placed him "even over the angels". And to Chipper, they weren't born in hell. They were cast down after they rebelled in Heaven (so the Good Book says).

Read the book "The Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis. It explains all.

They feed off of negative energy..but its really hard to stay positive, because they make you feel so bad, and you doubt your self..and when you are at your weakest, that is when they get stronger. Its just their nature, they ahve been like that since the dawn of time.
You can't really hold it against them personally...its what they do..just like any wild animal.

If they exist as the Bible describes, they'll have the following qualities:
immortality (death doesn't scare them)
wisdom of the ages (6000 + years of education)
experience in both worlds (ours and Gods)
We will seem insignificant to them. Any bad thing they do to us must be motivated by their rebellion or hatred for God, not hatred of us.
(That would be like saying we're motivated to kill spiders because we're racist against spiders. They're actually insignificant and we kill them because they're in the way.)

If you were stuck in hell for all eternity just because you were popped into existence that way, wouldn't you be pi$s3d off too? I'd bother people if I were in that predicament...
