I have two step children ages 7 and 8 and we disagree on how to do the Easter Bunny. The way my family did it was have the children put their baskets out in the living room the evening before so the Bunny could find them and fill them and then in the morning they would be filled with all kinds of things. His family had the kids put them in the living room the night before then the "bunny" would hide them around the house and when you woke up you would have to go and find your basket. Which way is better? The only problem I see with hiding them is when the basket is overflowing where do you put those things?

why not try making it into a treasure hunt...that is almost gauranteed to be fun. If not, why not come up with a new tradition for the family. Cause the kids brought their's and you ahve yours, maybe you can combine the two or come up with a new tradition just for your family.

In our family, we dyed eggs and put our empty baskets out. On Easter morning, we had to "hunt" the for the dyed eggs and the candy eggs the Easter Bunny had hidden in the house AND in the yard. This egg hunt was the most fun of all, and the parents made sure the "treasure" as fairly equally divided amoungst the kids. Each child would receive a chocolate bunny and told there were "x" number of eggs for each basket, so no one child could collect, say, 14, and another have only 7. Store bought, pre-made "Easter Baskets" were never done at our house.

When I was growing up, I never got my Easter Basket until Easter morning, sort of like Christmas, but my parents did hide my Easter Basket & I had to find it. If you don't give the kids the basket the night before, then you can put in them whatever you want and fill them when you get them to the hiding places. A favorite place for my parents to but my Easter Basket, in an empty clothes hamper, then they didn't have to worry about anything falling out & when I finally found my basket, I just emptied the whole clothes hamper. You could also give the kids smaller baskets the night before to tide them over until Easter morning, and then when they awake, they will get to see what the Easter Bunny brought them.

We hide the baskets. Makes it more fun and an adventure for them, but it gets harder each year to be more creative to hide them. The kids know all the typical hiding spots. If the basket is overflowing, buy that plastic wrap stuff that they sell for that purpose. It's usually around the wrapping paper or in with the Easter stuff just for this reason.

when I thought they were too old for hidden baskets, even the older one complained that its too boring to just have it sitting out.

Of twain(good/better), one way is called the better.
