time with this nonsence. Shouldn't we be outraged with all politicians getting their pockets fat for doing absolutely nothing?? When are we gonna demand something for our money?

It's the first step to officially let the president know where the congress , who represents the people, stands and it's not nonsense. If he refuses to listen after this, impeachment may have to be next.

Conservatives will try to demand the things you speak of but the whining from the liberal camp will drown it out. You need to remember what this is all about . This is a very carefully constructed power grab from the pelosi ites for 06. a 51-49 majority with 5 races too close to call for hours/days now became a us mandate to get us out of iraq. The problem came when Pelosi declared the first priority would be to reinstall democrats into power and the congress spent the first hundred hours doing that. Then in another attempt to nationalize health insurance vis a vis the botched job by hillary r., John Edwards went on record saying we have no choice but to raise taxes. If ms. Pelsoi was that conviced that money could be saved by cut and run to Iraq, why was one of her first acts a speaker to buy herself a brand new 757 at taxpayer expense to junket campaign contributors back and forth from dc to san francisco...i think you get my point.

Now that tax and spend is on the agenda, the purpose of this....debate.... is to attempt to half heartedly deliver on what theyve promised to do for (i think to) the american public. cut and run. most of the punidts have it correct. this is a naked raw first step on the road to abandon the soldiers, cut funding and leave them dangling. I totally agree with you , its nonesense and im very outraged but this is a middle step in a calculated campaign that started long ago.

bottom line, if you look at it in the context i provided it seems more cunning and contrived and essentially dangerous and harmful to the us...and unless your a big fan of the 20 percent inflation of the carter era. you should hope and pray,as i do, the left wing extremists wake up soon and see the damage they are causing or this will look mild in comparison to the after effects of this.

god help us all if they dont.

My point here is the american public has been very creatively sold a bill of goods.

A mugwump is a little bird. He sits on a fence. He keeps his mug on one side, and his wump on the other. All politicians are mugwumps on issues that require leadership. Perhaps it's weak knees. Perhaps is the need for consensus. Perhaps they're very afraid for what may happen five or ten years down the road if we pull out of Iraq. Bush (the idiot) firmly put the American foot into the tar pit. It remains to be seen if we can ever get unstuck.

Partisan grandstanding; playing to the choir. Throwing a bone to the masses who voted for them to do something about the war. They lack the nerve to do anything other than this silly time wasting gesture as they fear to arouse the ire of the sleeping conservative giant.

It makes them feel good, gets them publicity, and plays well in the media. No intelligent person can fall for the idiocy of the liberals.
