this question has been asked SEVERAL times here. and you can research other answers.
the answer is no. its memory hungry usually needing a gig and microsoft has put in several booby traps.
it wont be compatible with most older equipment. it reports ALL serial numbers on software to microsoft so if you havent registered everything whether properly purchased or not it will forced you to do so.
it needs a larger video card then most people have
it destroys your old key code and screws the bios so unless your EXTREMELY computer savvy its a one way upgrade.
and unless the video you have displays proper licensing it will allow you to play it twelve times and then shut it down regardless if youve paid for it or not...
REAL PIECE OF GARBAGE...stay away from it.

for the average user I would say stick with Xp. VISTA has pretty bells ans whistles but in the end all everyone needs is a basic operating system. microsoft has said they wont make XP direct X 10 compatible but I think its just because if they did not many peopel would buy vista as they would have DX-10. I will say in the future they will make XP DX-10 compatible. once sales of vista levels out. I am happy with XP so I will stay with it for now. never know what the future will hold. but will switch if my cames require DX-10 .

Why is surely everyone so shocked that vista is slightly a pig, Australian laptop magazines have been reporting this because of the fact it grew to become into in beta previous due 2006. Now we pay attention there's a third provider %. for XP, advert vista would be previous in 2009. which potential they'll re badge vista and fasten its issues and supply us a sparkling OS. no longer!

Xp might be better than vista in some ways. Read the article "Uninspiring Vista" which gives a better idea about Vista.

Vista is a good operating system .It is good in security.but for an average user i will recommend Windows XP.Vista gives a lot of entertainment facilities as 3-d graphics etc but it needs to be made more efficient before it could stand before XP

Not sure right now since I do not have vista but I will say XP because right now vista has a lot of bugs in it right now that need to be worked out first.

more security.... Just watch the MAC commercials. it's all there.

you need more computing power in order for it to run smooth. Games runs a bit slower on Vista. New DirectX 10 games will require Vista. you get Vista now your old hardware Might or Might not be supported or support it. Better indexing, new Gadgets... YES IT IS BETTER. just not YET practical.

Before you buy Vista GOOGLE - "windows vista problems and issues"

If you require a reliable, up to date OS get UBUNTU. It's free and all of the programs that you will ever need are FREE!!!

I would stay well away from vista, (for now anyway) You get the impression that security is ok with all the pretty light boxes that pop-up but thats prety much useless if your PC is being hacked from its IP. The security features are their pretty mutch to stop you from screwing up your pc and 'help' stop spyware.
