Just like you, unless you are native American. We are all immigrants. My roots are closer to the US since the natives of Mexico were indeed in this continent. While most likely you were 100% from Europe. I think making English an Official language would serve no purpose as all the countries that have official languages also have communities that speak other languages and they cater to them as well. It is just symbolic. No matter what there will be other languages and the majority of the US would still speak English. It doesn't affect you in any way.

Folks who immigrate to America eventually learn the language. They may not speak it perfectly nor write it perfectly but they learn. Which is more than I can say for some of the posters I read on here. Having English identified as the official language would make the transition of living here a lot easier for everyone. It is frustrating to try and communicate with people that don't speak your language or refuse to speak it. If I were to move to a foriegn country, in my opinion, I would expect myself to at least attempt to learn their way of speaking......In the US, I think we are way too over-accomodating to people that want to live here, yet refuse any attempt to learn the language. I am not asking people to lose their identities or heritage, but the key to survival is adaptation......
