Use a 3.5mm male to Stereo phono adaptor (check eBay, try searching for mp3 to hifi cable) so that you can plug your record player into your laptops line in (normally blue coloured hole, if you don't have one a cheap soundcard will be necessary). Record the line in using Audacity (free), or similar.

Once you've got it recorded on your pc, you can rip it to cd or dvd at your leisure.

I wasn't away Libraries offered a cd library... I somehow doubt they have obscure records from the 60s or similar.

Oh and don't buy one of the overpriced record players designed for putting LPs onto your PC. They're just cheap record players with a usb cable and some free audio software, but they cost over £100, making them a total waste of money.

Record from the Line In with the appropriate adaptors that is if you have a line in on your Laptop (now it IS your laptop so you should know). if you don't, get a sound card. any sound card should do. There are differences on quality tho (Noise to Signal Ratio Etc.). However you are re mastering a LP I'd say go for a cheap Sound card. Most good sound editing program like adobe Audition would have the "Automated" option for noise removal.

Then only thing you need is a 3.5 input and a cd burner. a dvd burner is not necessary unless you want to compress them into a larger disc. im unclear why you would want to go through all that bother though. if you go to your main library you can usually borrow cds and copy them for free.
