I believe that you are refering to Greece! Here in Greece,we have 1400 islands, of which 227 are inhabited. Only 78 islands have more than 100 inhabitants
Remember, all of them are very beautiful!

Greece has literally thousands of Islands, Islets. Most accurate estimates have been over 3000. However only about 250-300 are actually inhabited. But do not let that fool you, many Greeks and locals flock to the outer islands for a beach day, weekend getaway or a camping weekend. Each island however offers its own distinct beauty and landscape as well as cultural traditions.

And here yet another number. I've read that there are over 3000 islands and 182 of them are inhabited. One needs to define what constitutes an island, how many square kilometers it has to be to be considered and island rather than just a rock sticking out.
