I know this is going on a bit, which puts me off claiming back from my Barclays current account which has an overdraft bigger than the charges. But if I claim back from Barclaycard, which has no balance, could they shut down my current account as well as the credit card since it's all Barclays?

When requesting fees back, it is wise to open similar accounts elsewhere before doing so. Never heard of a bank pulling the plug on an un-related account but they might take the huff and close the doors on you. Better safe than sorry.

No, not if they are two separate accounts.

It's unlikely they will shut down your Barclay Card account though - everyone I know who has claimed back their charges still have their accounts open, even when they have done this with current accounts and with different banks.

Yes Barclays can do what they like and they do. My advice is get as much money out of them as you can then tell them to go jump in the lake.

credit cards are in a class of their own. whatever decisions are taken with respect to your bank accounts will not apply to your credit card.
Good luck.
