Try feeling the need for smooth first.
If you want to be really fast you first need to be really smooth. Read some books. Try Twist of the Wrist by Keith Code or Total Control by Lee Parks. Learn more about how to handle the bike you have now before you try something bigger.
Go take some classes. Take the MSF basic and advanced courses and then go try some track days. Learn as much as you can.
And, after learning how to handle your bike, you'll find that your F4i will keep up with an R1 just fine in most situations. So spend the money that the R1 would cost you on track days and maybe some suspension upgrades.

The rider makes the bike fast on the track not the bike. An F4I in the upper RPMs is a fast bike and it also has the comfort for long rides. The F4I is a good bike.
Go to a trackday get schooled by some SV650s and even some Ninjs 250s and 500s then you will realize you have not even reach 20% of that bike potential.
The down side to the F4I is the cases will drag ground in a full lean. When you touch the case to the ground (on the track) without crashing go get a new bike.

Nope, unless you want to be embarrased by a good rider on an SV650 passing you on the outside just to overtake him on the straits just to be passed in the corner again.
Your F4i is plenty fast enough for someone with only 4 months experience.

I agree with cycle mart. When you get so far over your scrapping parts of your bike then look into a R1 of another literbike until then just enjoy what youv'e got.

So let me get this straight, you're not content going 140 plus...you want to go 160? Time to grow up, before you get yourself killed.
You have maybe 4,000 miles tops on a great bike and you want to go get yourself an R1? Do me a favor and make me the beneficiary on your life insurance policy.

Hi,
The Yamaha R1 is a very fast bike and is not that forgiving so you will have to be careful.
Have you thought about a fuel injected Fireblade as it is just as fast but not so hard edged and it's still a Honda so will be ultra reliable with great build quality.
GOOD LUCK.

That's funny. You think you're good enough after 4 months for a literbike? Ha!
You've really worn the chicken strips down past the wear bars on your tires, have you? Drag a knee in every corner and have NEVER gone down? 160mph isn't fast enough?
You think that twisting a throttle makes you a good rider, do you?
You are a SQUID, Junior.
