The best way to gain points is to give good answers. Not only do you get 10 points for a good answer, but you can gain huge amounts if other people have given your answer a thumbs up when it is picked as best. I've been told by the guy with the most points in Yahoo Answers (he's got over 300,000) that some people have picked up 80,000 points in a single week by writing answers that other people gave a thumbs up to.

How to get your answer chosen as best:

Give genuine answers to questions, don't cut and paste from other websites. People appreciate an answer that is exactly the right one for the question that was asked.

If a load of other people have already answered the question, don't answer unless you have something extra to add, because you won't get best answer for repeating what other people have said.

On the other hand, if you can give a proper explanation, take the time to do it. Don't just jot down the answer and run.

OK. Since this is a good question, it was worth spending 5 of your points in asking. From now, ask few if any questions and go on scanning for questions which you can answer. To the best of my knowledge there are no shortcuts.

If you want to see a lot of points after your name, switch to Rediff Q&A since you gain 10 points for each answer.

Why do people always want to take shortcuts?
Start by answering some questions instead of asking and build your points up like the rest of us have had to!
