Even all restaurants, I will be staved to death. Should I stock up food and beer?

Some stores will be closed, especially on the 1st day of the Lunar New Year but not the restaurants. Most will remain open and will be even more crowded during the Tet Holiday.

This rumor about everything closes during Tet is based on outdated information (at least 10 years old, perhaps 20) back before the Vietnamese realize that in the service business, holidays are the best time to stay open! Americans realized this fact 30 years ago and did away with the Sunday closing tradition in the US back then.

One thing you will never have to worry about while in Vietnam is to find a good place to eat, 365 days a year, and at very reasonable prices too...Enjoy!

No, not everything closed down. Most of the famous stores and restaurants still opens for customers. You don't have to worry about starving. Just go to the big and well known restaurants, they will be glad to serve you.

You will have a great time. Wish I were going to be there for Tet. A great big friendly party. Good food and good visiting. We have to wait until school is out for the summer before we go there. Cheers.
