You're right, it doesn't! The moon's about 240,000 miles away, the sun's 93,000,000 miles. Maybe someone's getting confused about lunar eclipses, when the Earth comes between the sun and the moon?

Not only does the sun never pass between us and the moon because of the position of the relative orbits, but it's actually much too big to fit in the gap between us and the moon. The moon is only a quarter of a million miles away. The sun is more than three times that in diameter!

No the sun is much much to large to do that, whom ever told you that was just pulling your leg. That is to say they were lien to you.
If the sun were to come between the earth and our moon you would be toasted, roasted and fried, well done.
There are more scientific answers but a simple no way, but don't get mad at the person that told you this, just go one like they never said a thing.
Seem to me they would only want to arguer with you and it really is not worth it.

The sun never pass betwwen us and the moon. If the sun had to come at such a close distance with us, then earth would no longer be.

No, it doesn't. Look at this chart below: (the planets are WAY further away from each other than it makes it appear, but it shows you the order, and gives you an idea of the size of the sun)
