Do the little bugs sprout legs?

I was just wondering if there was a particular bacterium that causes this. My patients will tell me they have walking pneumonia, and no where in any of my nursing books has this ever been discussed!

Because it isn't a medical term. It just means they were not aware they had pneumonia and were going about their lives.
It is a ridiculous term, people have coopted into language. I have had pneumonia twice and it is not something a Doctor tells you as a diagnosis. I had bacterial pneumonia and nobody with a stethoscope said "OH NO, WALKING PNEUMONIA!"
Just doesn't happen.

walking pneumonia is when biologists and researchers take the pneumonia samples out of their little freezers in the lab to let them stretch their legs. Some citys have pneumonia parks where pneumonia can be safely walked, as long as you keep them on a short leash. Pneumonia walkers can be hired at very little cost. Just check your local want ads, next to the section reserved for dog walkers.

Walking pneumonia is pneumonia that does not take you to bed. You can have it and not feel very bad at all. It still is pneumonia, so it should be treated the same. If it goes untreated, it will develop into a very bad case of pneumonia.
