when i try to save some files on to a blank dvd+r my pc says theres no cd in the drive!! well of course there isnt cos its a dvd writer & ive put in a brand new dvd disk
what am i doing wrong

1) it won't safe files on a DVD disc .If you want to safe files to a disc it will have to be in CD formate

2) but if you want to put them on to a DVD than what you will have to do is create a data DVD.

You may not be doing anything wrong - some DVD writers (like the one in my Packard (crap) Bell PC - don't recognise all discs - for some reason this particular drive won't accept the purple coloured discs - it will accept gold or silver coloured ones!

I ended up ripping it out and buying a new one to be honest - it seems (don't know if they have corrected it) to be peculiar to Toshiba drives
