I see many professional lawn companies hauling chemicals around in tanks in the back of their trucks and spraying the lawn and plants that way. I am use to spreading out granular fertlizer and pre-emergent and fertilizer.
Is there any advantage to the way the "lawn professionals" do it by spraying out liquids from a hose and the way I do it by spreading out the Scotts brand of granular herbicides and fertilizers with a spreader?

Liquid is more convenient to use for a lawn professional because of the larger scale equipment they use. Undiluted liquid takes up less space than granular and it also allows for a quicker dispersal which equal more money. Granular is safer for the consumer and you are less likely to burn your lawn by improper use.

Lawn companies are more than likely spraying a fungicide, or liqiud fertilizer. Some landscape comapnies use a liquid feed for the flowers they plant. They also spray a dry time release fertilizer on the lawns as well as a dry pre-emergent. At the greenhouses I grow for we add a time release fertilizer, until tthis fertilizer begins to break down and actually starts to work, I water with liquid feed, then stay on clear water until it is shipped out.

I disagree, there is way more chance of burning your lawn when you use a granular.
However, granular IS more effective re herbicides - pre emergent and longer lasting re fertilizer thus you have to apply less often.

Lawn companies use liquid because it is cheeper, faster to apply, they can water it down and there is less chance of unintentional damage. Though there is the risk of drift damage to non target areas.
Also, liquid is absorbed and used more quickly.
