Cases were known during the beheadings in France where the severed head's eyes stared at people and blinked several times over a period of seconds on certain individuals

In medieval times, when beheaded was more frequent as a penalty, experiments were done to see how long a person responded after the beheading by asking the person to blink until they couldn't blink anymore. The beheaded individual would blink from 10 to 15 seconds after the separation.

I'm not sure if you could hear or see but your brain is definitely active for a while. I saw this program about beheadings and there was this scientist in the 17th or 16 th century that was sentenced to death by beheading. He told his assistant that he was going to try to blink as many times as he could after they chopped off his head. The assistant was to observe his head and record any reaction. The assistant recorded that he blinked thirteen times after being beheaded. We have this one record til today. Pretty weird huh.

Absolutely not. With your spinal cord severed you would be rendered IMMEDIATELY unconscious with no concept of pain and no ability to move your body parts in ANY way.
As an added note: I am stunned at the level of gullibility of otherwise reasonably-educated people on this site. DO NOT be duped into believing the ridiculous comments of some (experts" who have heard something about an alleged incident in the French Revolution. This story has been circulating among the marginally-educated for hundreds of years, however NO MEDICAL experts agree with this. Stories like those mentioned below pop up all the time and people who don't read very much immediately believe them because someone said, "Oh wait, it's true I heard it too."
Ask ANY real doctor how much ability a human head would have of recognizing pain, its surroundings, or the ability to consciously move after a decapitation. After they stopp rolling on the floor laughing they will tell you get the hell out of their office and stop wasting their time.

Yes, for about 7 seconds I think it is. I don't know the details but once there was someone who was to be beheaded who wondered this - once they were beheaded they blinked as many times as they could & it was counted by someone who it was arranged with beforehand.
I'm sure that's a true story but I can't remember anything else about it sorry!

Nobody has survived to tell, but it is thought some of those beheaded knew what was happening for an instant when their head was held up too the crowd.

According to tests; after a decapitation the face still has responses from eight to ten seconds after. There is no speech because air has been cut off from the voice box.

OMG, I hope not. I (foolishly) watched the beheading of a man on Youtube about a month ago, and it still makes me ill. It was horrific, it took them 30 seconds to hack through his neck, you could hear him screaming. Even if you feel 'hard' like I did, DON'T watch it , you'll regret it. Reading these answers is not making me feel any better either. They held his head up...omg, if he was still aware.... it makes me sick.

Yes....during the French revolution, and the use of the guillotine, it was found that some heads would blink and roll their eyes and one head was found to blush when lapped, another was found to withdraw the tongue when pricked with a needle...many heads tried to talk. Remember; the brain can live for 2 mins without oxygen.
