why is that most super heroes in comic always in costume rather than normal clothes ?

The long-suffering and down-trodden public always can relate more to a superhero dressed in bright, colorful costumes. Not only does it distinguish the hero from normal, everyday run of the mill humans, it casts an identity feature that people can always find hope in. For instance, Superman's "S", the cape; Batman's cowl/cape & utility belt; or Spiderman's color-coordinated outfit with the spider sign and web on the front. I mean, think about it. Who would go around in public in outfits like that unless it was the REAL superhero? Well, either that or the fact it may be Halloween. To emulate someone in costume is a kind of hero-worship. Who would follow someone in a t-shirt, dirty jeans, and a cap that's worn crooked on the head? Not too many....

Sometimes it depends on the hero. Batman wasted to strike terror into the hearts of criminals. Superman wanted to be recognizable to everybody. Some are given ther costunes, rather than designing them or choosing them. (Green Lantern was given the uniform of the Corps. If he had refused to wear it, he would not have been the right man for the job.) Captain Marvel was given his costume when the old wizard Shazam created him.

With bold primary colors, they look more impressive than if they were wearing street clothes. The whole purpose of some of those costumes is to keep their secret identities secret.

Finally, some heroes have their powers in the costume (like iron man) and wouldn’t be much of a hero without it.

1. To conceal their identity.

2. To strike fear into the hearts of evil-doers.

3. Some wear costumes because the costumes are made of a special material which allows them to use their powers without ending up naked.

4. Because they're on a super-team and the team costume gives them a sense of unity.

5. Some wear costumes just because they look cool.

6. Some characters derive their powers from their costumes.

If you saw, say Thor, out of his superhero costume, wielding lightning (as any normal, man-about-town, Superhero/God of Thunder would do) you'd run for your life, cos hey, would you recognise him?

Nobody recognises Clark Kent when he's out of his Supes outfit, but take those glasses away from him, and voila!
