I'm cheating a bit! I grew up "abroad" and studied Italian, Spanish, and French. I studied these languages from the comfort of my school in Scotland!

I studied Spanish in a funky little city called Cádiz. Great place, surrounded by beach, 340 days of sun a year, like 2 hrs from africa, so skip over to Marrocco and have a lil nosey around etc. Plus learnt Spanish while i was at it. The site for the school I went to is www.centromelkart.com if you want to check it out.

Yes, I studied French in Paris. It wasn't so much about the language as just wanting to go to France. It was the best time of my life.

I moved too the Netherlands and studied Dutch, I moved too Germany and learned a little German and now I life in Belgium and I try to pick up French and it's not easy..... but doable.

Nevertheless in the Netherland and Germany you can get around with English, but in Belgium it gets tricky.... due to the language struggle (Vlamisch "Dutch" and French).
