If this is your first yeast infection, its a good idea to go to the doc just to confirm because sometimes they are confused for other problems. If you have had one before and are pretty sure that's what is going on now, there are several over the counter products. Monistat has one now that is just a one time treatment (as opposed to 3 or 7 days). It is called Monistat 1 and it is a little ovule that you insert into the vagina (kinda like you would a tampon). It also has a little thing of cream to use externally. When using these over the counter products, you may want to wear a panty liner or pad as they can be a little messy. Honestly, I prefer to talk to my doc and get a prescription, though. There is a med called Diflucan and they can give you one pill and it starts to work so quickly! Within 24 hrs you notice a huge difference. However, if the drug store is closed and you need something asap, the over the counter varieties usually work too...just a little messy.

If its your 1st yeast infection you should go in. But if you can't ask a pharmacist the best thing to buy.

You're supposed to get diagnosed by a doctor to make sure that is what it is, but if you're SURE it's a yeast infection you can treat it with an otc product.

no you dont have to go to the docters. im assuming [vaginal yeast infection] when i had it i didnt know what it was so i went to savon and asked the pharmacist and she was really nice about it and gave me Monistat 3. worked like a charm.
