If you are leading the discussion be sure to have plenty of questions ready. If the students are not responding much you need many questions to get them to start talking. The same is true of an interview.

It is painful when the group just does not talk. Have a backup plan just in case the students do not respond.

If you are the student then you need to be sure to review the information so that you can answer the questions and join in the discussion. As long as you study then you should be fine.
