Before you answer, think of the variables - skill level of players (good and bad), peoples' (dis)honesty, countless times when a call could go either way.

It definitely depends on the skill level and the honestly level. Honesty dictates that the person who fouls calls it. But since the question is being posed, honesty is probably not dictating here, so...If you are not playing a gentlemen's game with a decent level of basketball, then not every foul is called. If a foul seriously affects the shot or possession of the ball, then it can be called by the person fouled, otherwise, play continues. As with any game -- basketball or otherwise, lay down the rules at the beginning of the game. He who can't abide the rules, leave the ball and go home!!

I wouldn't call fouls in a pick up game. Unless someone is pushing other players I wouldn't. In fact I think it causes too much trouble, because people get mad and dispute the calls, Just play the game, play tight defense without fouling. If somebody drives the lane let em go, I mean if you were good enough playing defense they shouldn't be driving past you to begin with. Before the game everybody should vote on the rules. And agree not to punk anyone on the court . and everything will be fine.

I myself hate playing pick up games with fouls because in every case it's the guy who gets fouled. that calls the foul. So some dudes feel if they get touched slightly it's a foul. And getting touched is not a foul. getting hit or hand checked is.

but if someone is guarding you with the feet planted and their arms stretched out and you run into them, there is no foul, chest bumping not a foul as long as the arms aren't swinging, it's legal, but those are the calls you will tend to get from cry babies. it's more fun not playing with fouls if you ask me.

i don't be conscious of approximately different areas human beings, yet frequently basketball video games interior the streets of ny, the guy being fouled calls it. this suggests, often, the guy calling the foul became on the offensive end. although, there is no longer an absolute rule like the guy being fouled has to call it. each at times, whilst a defender has hacked the offensive participant SO undesirable, he calls the foul "FOR" him, generally via fact he feels undesirable. Lot of the cases, the guy that have been given hacked THAT undesirable is of a similar opinion and takes the verify. in short, frequently the guy being fouled calls it, yet no longer consistently.

The person who gets fouled. More often than not the person who fouls the other player will not call it because, why would he? The only time the person who fouled the other player will call the foul is if he wants to intentionally foul the player

Whomever gets fouled calls the foul. Trust me, if you're playing with a decent group of guys then they're going speak up if they think it's a BS foul call.

Plus when you play street ball it's suppose to be rough. You get fouled, you foul back. They get a few good elbows and they'll back off.

How often would a person who committed a foul call a foul?

You'd need a pretty friendly group with a lack of competitiveness to have that happen.

Where I'm from and mostly everywhere I've been .... the responsibility is on the person who gets fouled. However if the foul is obviously a hack ... sometimes the fouler will give it to 'em. Call you own fouls.

You make your own calls, bottom line. If you like a rougher game you let stuff slide, but if you're a little p***y call every tic tack foul you can. My thing was always if you don't want to get touched shoot jumpers, if you (me included) go in the paint be prepared. Also dont call 3 seconds or think that you're gonna get a charge, you'll start a fight.

THE PERSON WHO GETS FOULED MAKES THE CALL, BUT THEY CANT SIT THERE AND WAIT AND SEE IF THE SHOT GOES IN BEFORE MAKING THE CALL,THE CALL HAS TO BE MADE RIGHT WHEN IT HAPPENS. IF SOMEONE CALLS A FOUL ON YOU YOU SHOULD RESPECT THE CALL. IF YOU HACK SOMEONE OR FOUL THEM ON PURPOSE YOU SHOULD MAKE THE CALL.
