When I answer my phone, I answer it by saying hi and the name of the person, friendly. What throws me off, is when they start asking me if I am mad, or that I sound like I am out of control, why is this? When I am feeling very normal & happy.
So why do people worrie about how the person sounds on the other end when the person cares enough to answer their call or even bother returning it. Common sense they are rude...

I have a friend who sounds sometimes like she is about to cry when she is talking....her voice gets like that when she's nervous/excited/mad...and when people ask if she's "alright" it gets me pissed because I know they don't really care...and they are openly mocking her w/ their pretend concern...."friends" who don't pick up on your real feelings may just be dense and really care for you.....or they may want to get a feeling of control by 'picking up' on 'your emotions' and helping you to deal w/ them....or they are making a show of it so they can appear caring/close/perceptive friend....it could be many things as you see by my few examples

If it's common for people to ask you if you are mad or think you may be out of control when you answer the phone you should perhaps be looking for a common factor in this. Now think, what's the one thing that is consistant with each call that might have made all these people respond like that? Maybe you can think of something else but taking a stab in the dark here, could it be the tone of your voice when you answer the phone? Perhaps what you think is a normal, happy, friendly voice sounds, for whatever reason, to these people like you are out of control or angry about something. I presume, if they are calling you, at least some of them must be friends of yours, so presumable the question is because they are concerned that you might be upset about something and want to know if they can help or at least sympathise.

That's what common sense is telling me, but we are all entitled to our opinion.

No common sense would tell you that if they are asking you those questions, then maybe without you knowing it, you may be being rude, or sound like you are mad, or sound like they are bothering you, otherwise why would they be asking you that, then you call them rude. Well actually you can ask them if you seem to be rude or what ever to let you know so you can correct it. So think about it, it just may be you being rude.
