PLEASE do not believe in the land bridge theory. This is scientific myth. It is scientific racism. There is little to no evidence to prove this theory. In fact there is more evidence that disproves the theory. Scientists, scholars, and common citizens today take this theory on blind faith without actually researching the evidence behind it. There is none! The theory was created so that settlers and their descendents did not have to feel guilty about committing genocide, cultural genocide, and land theft.
For more information on this topic please read "Red Earth White Lies" by Vine Deloria Jr.
Also. Native people believe they were created here. Every tribe has a different creation story. And since there is no scientific evidence to disprove these stories there is no reason to disbelieve them. If you think people have similiar looks that makes sense since all people were at one time Indigenous. And also remember that Natives did have boats so it is possible that people intermarried from other cultures.

from a scientific point of view there are many theories and none can be proven to be conclusive so they don't have a specific yes or no answer but it is generally believed that they did come over a land bridge one of which existed between alaska and russia. Over the years many civilizations have been on these continents though. They all left clues. Such as the aztecs and myas.(sp?) anyway thanks
for archtyrie... I am a mormon. I just thought if someone brought it up then better clarify. The book of mormon is ancient scripture written by prophets from the ancestors of natives on the north and south american continent. There were many wars but there is no belief about peoples skin being burned. If you want to find out about darker skin from a religious stand point look in the bible at cain and able and then at the decendents of noah. I just thought i would clarify. thanks

The indigenous peoples of the Americas are the pre-Columbian inhabitants of the Americas, their descendants, and many ethnic groups who identify with those historical peoples.
According to current scientific knowledge, human beings did not evolve in North or South America but instead arrived by sea or by a land bridge that formerly connected North America with Asia. Most (if not all) of those indigenous peoples descended from peoples living in Siberia. They entered North America by at least 12,000 years ago and diversified into hundreds of culturally distinct nations and tribes.[1

I have heard that the "Asian land bridge" theory is supported by the fact that both the American Indians and the Aleuts of Alaska share a missing enzyme in their digestive system that breaks down alcohol. Result is that both groups get drunk easily. A genetic common link. Take it as anecdotal unless someone else confirms it.

They came from their parents. Haw, haw. No seriously. Different Indians in North America have a different look to them. In the West they do look asian. But more towards the East coast, they look a little different. Some even have blond curly hair. I think different races (Mongolian, Chinese, Viking, Eskimo, Spanairds) traveled and eventually comingled.

North and Central American Indians are related to people of many sorts, from Polynesians to Egyptians. When more DNA tests have been run on everyone's ancestors there will be some answers and some big surprises for everyone.

their ancestors crossed the land (or possibly ice, can't remember) bridge that once connected north america to asia to the very north. that's why they looks kinda asian.
and they look south american because south american indians and north american indians are not very different. they're all from the same ancestors.
