The older music industry model - form a band, play live and increase your skills, then get signed by a label who puts up the money for your recordings - while it wasn't perfect, did ensure that only talented bands had a shot at the big time. In the late '70s that changed, and producers became more important than artists. Now labels shop for pretty faces and that's all. Everything else can be manufactured.
The public, too, deserves a great deal of the blame. They are the ones who buy this crapp.

I agree with you about 98.3 percent of today's pop music sucks. But then this is a corollary to the famous "Sturgeon's Law", or sometimes referred to as "Sturgeon's Revelation."
Sturgeon's Law is an adage derived from a quote by science fiction author Theodore Sturgeon: known as Sturgeon's Revelation: "Ninety percent of everything is crud". In fact, most modern uses of the term Sturgeon's Law actually refer to the Revelation,
Sturgeon's Revelation is often cited using crap or s**t instead of crud. The percentage figure also sometimes varies, having been in print as "94%" and even "98%".
The current phrasing of the Revelation is often taken as the second clause of a longer saying (derived from the aforementioned telling of the saying's origin): "Ninety percent of science fiction is crud, but that's because ninety percent of everything is crud."
What this means today is that mediocrity tries to perpetuate itself by driving true talent out of the business, or marginalizing it as much as possible. It is the least qualified managers and business people seeking to clone the least offensive and greatest mediocrities that the public will stomach, and package as many of them as they can get away with in a short period of time that represents the public's attention span.

Because most people are just trying to get rich quick and what works for one will work for them. So then you get repeats of the same thing that has been played to death. Other than that, it is pop. It has no choice but to suck.

It's built on a formula. And within that formula records labels dont want to gamble on an experiment. So, they continue to stay within that formula to able to statistically manufacture another hit single. and this hit single will get reproduce over the sound waves of the conglomorate radio statio. look at who owns the radio station, youll find that all commercial radio stations are owned by a handfull of companies, clear channel to name one. i dont remember the actual number but i thinks all radio stations are owned by 7 or 8 large companies. and these large companies along with record labels they scratch eachothers back, and the cycle goes on and on.
support public radio, support college radio, and
stop listening to commercial radio
