im looking for examples of different types of language
can you think of songs that has a

hyperbole (exagerations) and understated lyrics (underexagerations; eg. only doing my job)

pedestrian (layman's terms)
and pedantic (inflated) language

denotative (exact meaning)
connotative (emotional meaning) language

it can even be from books if you can find it
im running out of examples though
please tell me where you got it from also

I think you might try country songs.

There's a really old song titled "Drop kick me Jesus through the goalposts of life" which should fit in *one* of those categories!

Those country singers were really big into puns and innuendo, too. kd lang has a bunch:
I've got the bull by the horns.

Starving, I've got this hunger, growling from deep within. (From: Diet of strange places)

Doin' things that we ain't supposed to do (from Hanky-Panky)

Rod Stewart is another one who has song lyrics that really tell a story. Maggie May, Tonight's the Night, Cut Across Shorty, Handbags and Gladrags, etc. etc.

Hope that gives you a couple of places to look.

Archaic language: Thou shalt not speak... as opposed to You will not speak. I have no patience to think about the rest.
