The newspaper most likely to have covered this story is "The World" but unfortunately their online archives (http://theworldlink.com/archives/) don't go back to 1980.

You can call the library in Coos Bay and request that a librarian look up the murder (since you have the date) for you on their microfilm copy. Another option is to request a lookup from one of the volunteers at "Random acts of genealogical kindness" (http://www.raogk.org/).

I seem to remember this story - if I remember correctly, the murder was in either Bandon or Langlois.

I think you spell it Coos Bay. I don't know about the murder, You could look up the local newspaper there or library.

contact the news paper office ask them to bring a copy from library...all news papers keep there records from the very first day..........
