I'm only an inch above her height, sooooo ABOVE ALL get her to take her pants and maybe even shirts(if she has short arms) to get them tailored and hemmed...Tell her to try a department store, because they have personal shoppers that can help her for free. Also, try stores like New York and Company, Ann Taylor, and Express for chic but work-friendly attire. Target, K-Mart, and W-mart also have pretty good quality business clothes if she's shopping on a budget. Hope this helps!

That is actually an not too rare of a height. Jeans and Slacks are good, but not too tight; ones that fit just right. If she likes the conservative look, thankfully, that is "in" in the states. Lace and layers are good. Wear a shirt with a lace trim near the bottom, over some jeans, and a blazer. Flats would be good for her also. I don't think that she will have much of a problem. =) Just exchange the open toe shoes for some flats (ballerina type, or dress type) and make sure that the jeans aren't too tight. G'luck!

For conservative; here are some ideas (just browse at the pictures).

What she wears to "blend in with society" really depends on 1) where she will live as people dress differently in different states/cities even neighborhoods 2) where she will work and 3) how she wants people to perceive her.

I don't have a clear-cut answer for your question but knowing her height, someone can confuse her as being a lot younger than she is, so she shouldn't shop in the teenage section of the department store since most of the clothes in that department are too trendy to be worn by someone who is in her 30's and who wants to be taken seriously in the work world or even out of the house. (I'm 30 and I've been told I look anywhere from 18 to 25 and that has effected how people treat me at work and in the outside world, but I've made changes in 1) the way I dress and 2) my confidence/attitude so I am treated with more respect). Depending on where she will live, it will might be difficult to find clothes to fit her as most clothes for women are made for 5'1" and up. In major department stores, there are Petite sections geared to Petite women I have aunts who are petite and for work clothes, shop at the Limited Too store or Petite Sophisticate which has suits geared to petite women. As for everyday casual wear, she still can wear the tight sexy jeans and a nice top as long as it's not made of cheap-looking fabric (such as nylon mesh or acrylic). As for shoes, open-toed heeled shoes can be saved for the nightlife and open-toed low-heeled/flat sandals can be worn during the spring/summer season with jeans or skirt as long as the shoe fabric/style and color does not look cheap/flashy-colored. Then again, how she dresses is all in how she wants people to perceive her.

As for hair, she should choose more sophisticated styles and not just the long, black and flowing hair-it should be styled to suit her face shape.

Definitely nothing tight and no jeans. A nice suit or skirt and blouse would do just fine. Oh and no open toe shoes.

Well, i suggest she buys any fashion magazine from the US. Preferably "Vogue", "Elle", or "In Style". Definitely no open toed shoes, It's winter time over here, and people generally cover up more during this season. I wish her the best of luck.

Just take her to a women's clothing store and let them help her with her wardrobe. Look at us, many of us are pleasing in weight. Many of our weight problems began at her age. Tell her that she has always dressed well to fit herself, tell her to be herself. That is how most Americans feel. Be herself.
THIS IS THE ANSWER; TELL HER TO BE HERSELF, PICK OUT HER OWN CLOTHES, AND BE HERSELF. That is the "American Way," For those who count anyway.
