..have nothing to do with each other? The majority of Americans believe we need to bring the troops home - the majority believe that the Iraqi War is not related to Al-quieda and those that attacked the World Trade Center on 9-11!! Why don't the Republicans? Arrogance, stupidity, or both?

Some of you are not tolerant of others opinions, and think you alone know the truth. Others have the audacity to presume they can speak for the majority. The answer concerning ideology is closer than any so far, and still inaccurate. As to say, it joins with the other answer that speaks for the country majority. The only time the wishes of the majority are known, are at the polls. Here are some truths I know: Saddam DID have WMDs...#1 he said he did and failed to account for the destruction of those he claimed he had several years before. He also killed 5000 Kurds in one afternoon, and that wasn't accomplished with a bug sprayer. Next, the war in Iraq IS partially ideologic. It is the nature of this country to defend the little guy. Chivalry still exists here, and Americans typically come running, when women and children are being horribly tortured and murdered by the thousands. Sorry, but that is just how real Americans are. We will defend those that can not defend themselves. And Lastly, we are not losing in Iraq. We have already completed the initial mission we undertook. Which was to liberate the Iraqis from a tyrannical regime and set up an interum democratic government. Iraqs location is key in that region. Unfortunately, Iraqi insurgents loyal to Saddam and armed by Iran are trying to prevent this government from taking hold. We NOW are simply assisting with security of the government until they can secure themselves. We are not there for oil, as is easily surmised from the prices at the pump...duh! These truths are selfevident. Even double digit IQs' can surely see the logic, democrat or no. Was our intelligence faulty? Yes, it was. We would have freed Iraq regardless of the WMDs...eventually. My friends, this is the bed we have made, right or wrong. It is best we see it through as if it were our plan all along, than to divide our house and appear torn and vulnerable. I guess it's too late for that now, also.

It's ideology driven policy lot of people come to hate now days. I think this whole ideological stuff will lose whole lot of followers if Iraq thing don't improve significantly.

Both, plus racism. Once you've characterized another group of people as bad or evil, it feels fine to blow them away with abandon.
