When I print something in color, it appears that all colors are there except the color red....how can I fix this?

get a new red ink cartridge.

or if it's one cartridge for all the colors then you need a new color ink cartridge, because I think you're out of red ink.

Run a test page. Most likely the cartridge is getting low on both magenta and yellow inks, but it could also be that the cartridge nozzles need cleaning. The printer software has a cleaning function. Check in the manual, or go to the Control Panel (in Start, then Settings if you're using 95 or 98), double-click on Printers, right-click on the 940c icon, Open, go to the Help Menu. You should be able to find the directions for cleaning the cartridge nozzles there. (I had an HP 930c which is similar.)

maybe the one you are printing has no red color thats why there is no red color.
