I think you should go see your personal physician.

Well, a legitimate attention deficit problem can be treated with appropriate stimulant medication. Consult a psychiatrist and/or physician if you think you are having symptoms consistent with ADD. Do some research on the net for diagnostic criteria and to see if it applies to you.

If you've encountered this problem and it has never happened before, then perhaps the material is overwhelming you and/or you are underestimating the effects of any stressors in your life that could be affecting your concentration.

But if, like you said, you are truly experiencing sudden, unexplained memory and thinking deficits, then you should consult a physician to rule out any medical problems that may be affecting your thinking. There are so many causes of concentration problems. Things such as thyroid problems, endocrine dysfunction, metabolic syndromes, or neurologic impairment are some of the more common, and a routine doctor check-up can rule out some of the more common conditions that can cause mental status change.

But, and I know you probably dont wanna hear this, but when a student reports problems studying, it is often either due to a new situation (like freshman or first yr grad students) , poor study habits, drug/alcohol use, or psychosocial stressors/mood disorders.

Your symptoms are too vague and common to make any remotely definitive assessments. I hope I didn't give you reason to worry even more. Just wanted to throw out some things to think about.

When u say you cant remember anything, are you sure it's a general memory problem? cause if you can remember what you're reading in magazines or other more enjoyable activities, then its specific to your school and its more of a motivation and academic problem.

Are you getting enough sleep? Are you eating right? Three meals a day? Not junk food! Try more veggies? All the vitamins you need in those things, and they get to the spot you need them the most. Slow down, stop trying to cram so much into your head, and stop trying to keep up with everyone else, let the party go! Tell friends your tired, and need to rest. Give yourself a break.

Drink more water. No kidding! Try it of a couple of days. Also try some B vitamins. A good B complex will help you with energy and concentration too.
