The UCMJ(Uniform Code Of Miltary Justice) has a "catch all" article. Military prosecutors sometimes use this article when there isn't enough evidence to prosecute for any of several offenses, but the accused has had charges filed against him/her for those several offenses. Americans want Bush impeached for several reasons: Iraq,(for a couple of reasons), illegal immigration,(again, for a couple of reasons), illegal eavesdropping. Is betrayal of public trust a misdemeanor? If so, should Bush be impeached?
The Constitution says a President can be impeached for "high crimes and misdameanors."

It's amazing how many of you answer without even reading. And your comments rarely address the question.

The Constitution says a President can be impeached for "high crimes and misdameanors" but does not define what consititutes a high crime or misdameanor. Thus it becomes more of a political decision than a legal decision.

I do believe some of the actions he has taken should be considered high crimes or misdameanors, but I do not think he should be impeached. I believe it is more important to try to reduce the rift between the conservatives and liberals instead of taking action to increase it.

Even if the House impeached him, it is unlikely the Senate would convict him.

You are right, about the crimes but they will wait till they can get the felony and they will make it stick. Or it is just misbehaving as they will plea down to nothing. A slap on the wrist for the eavesdropping because they will say he thought he was doing for the war on terror BS but that is the plea he will cop! and the immigration will be a widow nest of webs, there are many on that list he will have to name that are and were involved back in the days of Reagan? eh? And his Dad? columbians? Iranians? duh? Iran/Contra? hmmmm? So we really need better stuff than the typical Bush Clan moves? We need the evidence that this was a strategic plan for years and then it is Conspiracy to over throw the United States Government and that by dear is treason! hmmm? could be? But we don't have the goods yet? Hard evidence must be shown! Amen!

Yes, obviously. Since bush/cheney took office the world has become less stable and less safe. He is a figure head who allow cheney to make policy and profit unimaginably from defense contracts. Any effort to impeach bush would require action to impeach cheney. bush is the horse pulling the wagon, but cheney is driving. The presidency of dick cheney would be so catastrophic that I suggest we impeach cheney first.

We have had illegal immigration since I was a child and I am 57. So you blame that on Bush. (MORON) And as for the illegal eavesdropping if it wasn't for that you just might be dead. There is no telling how many lives have been saved by stopping the terrorist from planting bombs over here instead of over in Iraq.

No. In the cases you mention, there was Congressional oversight, albeit not necessarily public or de-classified oversight, but oversight nonetheless. Failed or unpopular policy is not an impeachable offense.

i say bravo to that. i think bush should be trialed for war crimes. how is it the american tax dollars can go to fund a war when the poceeds of stoeln iraqi oil goes towards his rich oil tycoon buddies. i mean how can americans be so blind to this fact. millions of innocent lives have been taken in a war all about fattening the pockets of the real axis of evil. money should be used to help people. fight real wars like the one on diseases that can be treated to pro long the lives. save a ntion like south africa. they are becomming a nation of orphans. i am sure you get the picture. a congress in this country is only as good as the people. when the people blindly elect theives and corrupt people that is just what we get. the only way to live in peace in this country is to have a revolution. no one wats to face this.

We could never impeach someone who's had so many fantastic contributions to our country, and especially to our language.

Ugh.

*counting down the minutes until he's out of office. (Unless, of course, he changes the two term limit so he can run again and win unfairly.)

You can't impeach someone just because you don't like him or agree with his decisions. He has to actually commit a crime.... like lying to a grand jury....
