I saw it many years ago on HBO. It was pretty good...one of the best of the "Blaxploitation" films of the 1970's. By setting it in the Antebellum South, the overwhelming brutality of the slavemaster provided a comparison and contrast with the overt racism of the then present day of the '70's. The interracial sexual content was quite controversial for it's day....but then, you STILL don't see much interracial stuff even now. In fact, Blacks are almost never nude or having sex in movies at all...perhaps as a reult of some kind of "fear of black sexuality" . It would be interesting to see a remake done of this movie.

I have seen it and what class are you cheating at?
By the way there is another movie that was made that was a copy of Mandingo but I can't remember the name! :(
