Im just curious what the rest of the country feels like when they are watching their local late night news, and a story about a fight or shooting that took place in a school happens and the news interviews some students and apon their mouth opening to answer the reporter...that "stupid" voice is quickly heard. Where the young adult talks sort of like..."i was like oh my god, i couldnt believe they done that to her." Im in L.A., now that just might have something to do with that, cause the majority of the students thay I see this problem is with hispanic students. But at the same time not just hispanics, other races as well. But how about you, have you seen what I am describing here? I ask this because its just so sad, because these kids are...sadly the future of our world...Im 23...and just very curious about other peoples input.

Because journalism is a BUSINESS. More viewers equals more advertising dollars. I'm from West Virginia and whenever something would happen in our state, the national news would always find the one guy with the overalls and chickens in his front yard to interview and make the whole state look like a bunch of rednecks, when every state I've ever been to has rednecks - I don't care if it's New York or Texas.

FYI: Before you try to write about how 'others' are uneducated, it might be wise to check your own spelling and grammar.

It might also be wise to think beyond your question and not pinpoint hispanics and then write 'other' races.

If you are talking about teenagers, well ya of course, a good majority of teenagers have some growing up to do - I was interviewed by MTV when I was a freshman in college about my opinions on Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein and must admit that while I had some idea of what I was talking about - it wasn't until I grew up a bit that I could then speak intelligently on such topics.

It is also possible that people just get 'stage-fright' being in front of the camera and stutter a bit - and due to having to come up with something on the spot all they have to say is something 'simple'.

Kizzmyazz,
The media likes the way they speak. It's not just school children.

The media has always sought out the black derelict or the ones with dental problems to interview for local news.

For many many years and even now my race has questioned and been embarassed by it.

We now have the understanding that the media wants the rest of the country and the world to think a certain way about some people and so that's the way they are always promoted.

I think its just student speak. young people break language rules all the time. Actually, language is always changing. A lot of change occurs through the young. Language should change. But we prevent it. We put restrictions on natural language shifts with grammar. This is so everyone can speak to each other. It is good for the society.

I wouldn't worry about it, because they will need to find a job soon. Believe me, no one is going to put up with that kind of speak, except a corn dog hut.
