He wanted to be an All-Time great. It will be interesting to see how history looks on him 20 years from now.

Barry Bonds is an insecure fool who couldn't stand the fact that Sosa, McGwire, and Griffey were getting all the press coverage and Barry, poor little Barry was forgotten in California. This is what caused him to use the steroids and probably shorten his own life by decades. You get what you deserve I guess.

I read somewhere that Barry Bonds decided to cheat because for a long time, he was the best player in baseball, then he was aging and everyone was starting to catch up on him. He wanted to be the best (forever) and was willing to do anything for it.

Everyone has their weaknesses..... Just because the Bash Brothers of McGwire and Canseco wanted to try juicing their games, Bonds, Sosa, Palmiero and others probably felt left out and thought that they can artificially enhance their games too and try breaking the HR records. Now, I hope they will avoid injury and damage to their bodies in the future from use of those drugs.

Fame, money, chance to go down as one of the greats to play the game...but at that time MLB had no testing and there was no real way to know if players were cheating or not.

Because he lacks integrity. A very dishonest person. Ask Greg Anderson why he cheated. Why is Bonds letting Anderson do his jail time for him? Very sad situation for baseball.

1) Money
2) Fame
3) Self Satisfaction of holding the HR record
4) He is a selfish, conceded, arrogant ******
5) To prolong his career
6) To help heal from injuries
7) It was not illegal at the time

He got jealous of McGwire and Sosa. Bad decision because Bonds was on his was to the hall anyway.
