If there is no difference, then why 2 different names?

They're both made from a length of fabric, but they are tied differently.

A sarong can be tied simply (one example here: http://www.keciasworld.com/sarongclassicdress.html)

A sari uses much more fabric, and is tied thusly:

A sarong is a Pacific Island garment made by wrapping a single large, square or rectangular piece of fabric around the body, either the waist, above the bust, or tied about the neck. A saree, aka sari, is a multi-part style of dress including a tunic or shirt, and a long narrow piece of fabric wrapped about the body to form a skirt and sash, similar in some respects to a Scottish kilt.
