can anybody tell me what domination /amount in $ of postal stamp should I affix on the letter which i need to send from houston,texas to los angeles? the envelope contains a single page letter and I need to send it by simple post

Well, as of Feb 2007, it's $0.39 postage for a letter less than 1 oz. Here is the rate for First-class mail... http://pe.usps.gov/text/dmm300/ratesandfees.htm#wp3787938
If you have doubts, go to the post office and and put your letter on the scale.

Well the postal rate is 39cents for up to 1oz.for up to 2oz 63cents.for 3oz 87cents
With only an envelope and a single sheet,you'd probably be ok with 39cents
