economic progress is impeded by political instability. with out security and property rights there is not going to be any substantial economic freedom. No one is going to invest in an area that is politically unstable no one is going to buy property that doesn't have a clear title. They aren't going to pay for something that can be taken from them without allowing them any recourse. The insurance of property rights and the creation of a stable environment depend entirely on political determination or political independence.

Both are interdependent. Without one the other is of no use. Take the case of India. Now as an independent Country it is able to stretch its economic power at an accelerated pace.
