how do we use ti-86 to solve an equation?

hi... i just got calculator from my cousin, and she doesn't have the guidance book any longer. can someone tell me how to use ti-86 to solve an equation? just say the equation is: 4x=4
how can we know the x by using calculator?

The 86 has symbolic manipulation, I believe it is the second button from the left on the top of the screen.
Go to solve and type is 4x=4,x) The comma x says solve for x.
