Well if all of the things that have happened to your family members are not enough to make you quit, then you are not addicted to nicotine only, but also having a cigarrete in your hand and throwing smoke away through your mouth and nose make you feel better.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure that nicotine patches will be useless to you, so don't waste your time on that.
Try this:
Buy a wall calendar and hung it beside your bathroom mirror with a marker nearby. Number and circle each number from one to twenty every two days, that means, the dates first and second of the month you will write the number one in both dates and circle it; then on the third and fourth youll write the number two and circle it... and so on until you get to number twenty (which is the amount of cigarretes that a box usually contains, if not, then number your calendar accordingly to the number of cigars your usual box has)
Probably you smoke one or two packs a day; but anyway, no matter how many packs you smoke a day, buy that number of packs at the beginning of the day and throw away, from each pack, as many cigars as the number on your calendar indicates, then, along the day, you may smoke as many cigars as you've got left... but don't cheat, don't buy another pack during that day.
The next time do the same but throwing away as many cigars as your calendar indicates.
I know a few other ways, but this one I think is the one that'll fit you the best, besides is the one that's more effective.
Regards, Lifeguard.

I used the patch. I went with the CVS brand only because it was much cheaper and it worked just fine for me.
I am 34 yrs. old and had been smoking since I was 14yrs. old, so that was definitely 20yrs. too long. I have asthma also. It was a now or never type of situation. My lungs hurt every day, but I would still light up even though I would tell myself I wasnt going to.
March 19th will be my one year mark for being smoke free. All done with the patch. I actually stopped the patch after my 5th week was done. I have sensitive skin and I was running out of spots to put the patch, but no other complaints about the patch at all!
I still get cravings but they last a whole 5-10 seconds and it passes so, it's very easy to distract myself from it. You can do this! You're young and you have so many reasons to quit. I really, truly and sincerely wish you the best of luck!

I quit smoking using nicotine patches but it was really about how bad you wanted to quit.. Your motivation is clear to me and seems to be clear to you. You've had alot of bad news lately. Learn from them adn use them to motivate you to quit.Maybe you can go to a free clinic there? If anything they could point you in the right direction.Good Luck!Oh, when you get urges ,just wash dishes or DO something to distract you for a few minutes.

I used them years ago and never smoked so much as a puff since. Threw away the smokes, put on a pat, and I was a non-smoker. I was 100% successful because I made a commitment to stop despite any cravings, and the patch kept the nicotine withdrawal symptoms to a minimum.
"It" doesn't work-- YOU have to make it work.
Ask for freebies, ask the WV health/social services dept.

I don't know how to obtain free nicotine patches, but if you have been supporting a cigarette habit, you can certainly afford to buy the patches.

Nicotine patches work, but your mind must also conquer the urge to smoke.
Would you believe my brother stopped smoking using Acupuncture?

Patches didn't work for me.The gum did but doesn't for alot of people. You almost have to try everything to see what works for you.Walmart has the best prices on things like that and you can get them in smaller packages to check them out.Good Luck!

I have been smoking on and off for 21 years (i'm 29) the patch never worked for me but the gum did. Also thinking about how my father died of lung cancer and what he went through even though he never smoked. You can contact the american heart association and the american lung association they both have free support groups, classes and information on free products

in australia the pressure from the government to quit is fairly high, here you can even get free 'Quit Packs' and free councelling. it is advertised a lot over here that people who use patches have a much higher success rate than those that dont
