How does it happen? For what reason?

Yes. Old survival instincts. A male can impregnate more females if they are all in heat at the same time. That way the male didn't waste precious energy chasing females around and checking them. That's why most animals have breeding seasons when all the females come into heat around the same time.

Hi, Sage. Pheromones seem likely, but I don't know of any conclusive studies. Both menstruation and menarche can be affected by close association with men and women. Many postulations about the effect are centered on survival and reproduction, even competitive reproduction. Personally, I would think reproduction and competitive reproduction are the most likely. I couldn't figure how survival would come into play, unless it was something like schools of fish: It's thought that small fish who travel in schools make harder targets; their movement causes flashing, which draws attention in different directions, supposedly so a predator couldn't follow one target. Similarly, when menstrual cycles sync, all the women in the group get bitchy at the same time, making it nearly impossible for a man to single out one of them for retaliation. The man becomes confused, stymied, gives up and either swims off into the abyss to contemplate his existence, or beaches on a sand bar until dawn with his guy friends. ~Os

I can't speak for everyone, but when I lived in the dorms (there were 7 other women in our suite) I yanked them all off their cycle to mine. 2 were even on birth control pills. Many friends who I would see at least 3 times a week I yanked onto my cycle as well. But when I lived with mom as a teen her and I were never on the same cycle.

Yes its true- there are some "dominant" women who excerete pheremones, and for some reason, the weaker women's bodies pick up on the time of the month for the woman and their bodies follow suit. Thats about all that is known about it. Attached is an interesting article about it.

Yup!
It's been documented in several case studies when a lot of females end up dorming together, their cycles sync up. It has something to do with pheromones.

Yes, it is true. I am one of the victims of this hormonal sync. If there are more than three ladies in the house, run.

yes, but not always just usually. It is because of their pheromones. And their cycles aren't exactly the same just the time during which they are menstruating.
