List is backwards :( smallest to largest
1 byte = unit
1 kilobyte/KB = 1024 bytes, or about 1000 bytes
1 megabyte = about 1 million bytes
1 gigabyte = about 1 billion bytes

It is all by the metric system. Kilo=1,000 Mega = 1,000,000 Giga= 1,000,000,000. So like a "gig" is one billion bytes. Bytes are actually just a unit of measure for information. I'm not sure how it exactly works. I know there is yet another unit of measure known as a "bit" that composes a "byte"

1 bit is the smallest unit.
8 bit=1byte
1024 bytes = 1 KB (2 to the power 10)
1024 KB = 1 MB (2 to the power 20)
1024 MB = 1 GB (2 to the power 30)
1024 GB = 1 TB (2 to the power 40)
Remaining of them are as following
peta (2 to the power 50)
exa (2 to the power 60)
zeta (2 to the power 70)
yotta (2 to the power 80)

gigabytes, then megabytes, then kilobytes, then bytes. a kilobyte is 1024 bytes, a megabyte is 1024 kilobytes, and a gigabyte is 1024 bytes (btw, 1024 gigabytes make a terrabyte and 1024 terrabytes make a petabyte)
