Date of employment and position title....that's it. Anything else could leave the company open to an actionable suit and since there is no advantage to your previous employer why should they tell them anymore that they have to.

besides to what others have reported, maximum employers will be VERY careful what they say to a ability agency, because it really is really basic to get sued presently. in case your previous agency is telling others you're a drug addict, you want to search for suggestion from with an lawyer to work out in case you are able to take action antagonistic to them to at least a million) supply up them from doing so and 2) sue for damages. i trust ( i might want to correctly be incorrect ) that you've a top to work out what HR had you signal even as interior the well being facility. pass get an lawyer - tell them each little thing, do not lie the them, tell them each little thing. they're the most perfect ones to point you about your options. try this previously you free yet another job threat. tomorrow can be a authentic sturdy day to search for suggestion from with an lawyer.

The dates you worked there, whether you quit or were fired. In most states they can't say why you were fired, only if they would hire you again.
There are no federal statutes forbidding employers from saying what they want about former employees. State laws prohibit defamation (slander and libel), which is broadcasting false info about a person when the communication is not privileged.
There are different laws in different states; check yours.

I believe they have to be nice lol. If you were a good worker, but left on bad terms, they cant go on and on about how terrible you were, they have to act as if everything is ok with them, even if they have a problem with you. My husband was a hiring manager, and he had people call for referneces of previous employees often, and he was nice :)
